The BEEN Project, in collaboration with Gharpajhong Rural Municipality, has inaugurated a model energy-retrofitted office room at the Office of the Rural Municipal Executive in Jomsom, Mustang. The inauguration of the retrofitted office was jointly conducted by the Chairperson of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality, Mr. Mohan Singh Lalchan, and Dr. Ranjan Prakash Shrestha, Senior Programme Manager at the European Union, Nepal.
The retrofitting work incorporated various energy-efficient measures such as insulation of the floor, roof, and walls; installation of double-glazed windows; and the integration of solar technologies.
This energy retrofitting initiative aims to raise awareness among policymakers and the general public about practical measures that can be adopted to improve thermal comfort in office buildings and other structures located in Nepal’s cold-climate regions.
During the inauguration ceremony, awareness-raising materials developed by the BEEN Project were also formally handed over to the Rural Municipality.
