Friday February 20, 2026

The BUILDING Energy Efficiency in Nepal (BEEN) has been featured by the EU SWITCH-Asia programme for its efforts in promoting climate-responsive and energy-efficient building practices in Nepal, supporting the country’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2045.

Key achievements include:

  • Engaging 176 MSMEs across the building value chain
  • Technical workshops with municipal building permit officials from 31 partner municipalities
  • Signing 10 MoUs to integrate energy efficiency into local policies
  • Developing prototypes for 72 energy-efficient housing units
  • Capacity building for Hollow Concrete Block (HCB) and Compressed Stabilized Earth Block (CSEB) producers
  • Validating a Technical Manual and training master trainers

Through these initiatives, BEEN is fostering a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and climate-resilient building sector in Nepal.
