BUILDING Energy Efficiency in Nepal (BEEN) Project Closing Workshop

On 11th February 2026, the #BEEN Project proudly celebrated its Closing Workshop, marking four transformative years of advancing energy efficiency in Nepal’s building sector. The formal session was inaugurated by Mr. Gopal Prasad Sigdel, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, and Her Excellency Veronique Lorenzo, Ambassador European Union. Mr. Jose Luis VINUESA-SANTAMARIA, Head of Cooperation, European Union, Mr. Pralhad Karki, Under Secretary, Ministry of Federal Affairs & General Administration and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Streicher, Head of Department, UIBK, launched key knowledge products:
  • Manual for Energy-Efficient Building Design (Revised Edition)
  • Manual for HVAC System Design
  • Building Energy Efficiency (EE) Toolkit
These resources will support municipalities and professionals in mainstreaming energy efficiency nationwide.
  • High-Level Panel Discussion:
The discussion explored policy integration, financing mechanisms, private sector engagement, role of municipalities and support of development partners in scaling up energy efficiency across Nepal’s building sector. As BEEN concludes, its impact continues through strengthened policies, empowered municipalities, skilled MSMEs and practical tools shaping sustainable future for Nepal.
