A major milestone at the BEEN Project Closing Workshop, the official launch of three Knowledge Products.
Mr. Jose Luis VINUESA-SANTAMARIA, Head of Cooperation, European Union, Mr. Pralhad Karki, Under Secretary, Ministry of Federal Affairs & General Administration and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Streicher, Head of Department, University of Innsbruck, launched key knowledge products:
- Manual for Energy-Efficient Building Design (Revised Edition)
An upgraded and expanded guide that promotes climate-responsive and passive design principles tailored to Nepal’s diverse bio-climatic zones.
- Manual for HVAC System Design
With the rapid rise in air-conditioning use, this manual provides practical and theoretical guidance for designing HVAC systems. It supports architects, engineers, and MEP professionals in optimizing thermal comfort, indoor air quality, and energy performance while reducing operational costs.
- Building Energy Efficiency (EE) Toolkit
Developed to support 40 local governments that have adopted EE & RE policy provisions, this toolkit provides a step-by-step compliance guide for building permit submissions, empowering both building professionals and municipal officials to implement energy-efficient standards effectively.
Together, these resources mark a significant step toward mainstreaming energy efficiency in Nepal’s building sector reducing energy demand and enhancing thermal comfort.
